While Agriculture employs 70%, the industry suffers low productivity & 65% of the cultivable land is idle due to lack of climate-resilient inputs, poor markets, & using poor traditional farmining methods. YieldRise Uganda is the answer!

YIELDRISE Uganda is a climate-smart agricultural partnership that empowers smallholder farmers through organic inputs, training, and post-harvest support to improve yields, incomes, and soil health – all on a post-harvest payment model.

What is the problem?

Although agriculture employs more than 70% of Uganda’s population, productivity remains very low, and a significant share of arable land is underutilized. Evidence indicates that approximately 65% of Uganda’s cultivable land remains idle, while the remaining 35% is often farmed at low productivity levels ((International Trade Association, 2025; Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries – MAAIF, 2025).

Low agricultural productivity among smallholder farmers is driven by limited access to quality and climate-resilient inputs such as improved seeds and fertilizers, training, and poor markets post-harvest. Farmers also use poor traditional methods of farming that are vulnerable to climate change and market dynamics.

Our Solution:

YieldRise supplies farmers with NUTRIPLANT, an already-approved organic fertilizer alongside climate-resilient seeds, training, and markets on a post-harvest payment model. Below is how it works:

  1. Farmer Joins YIELDRISE – Farmers register and commit land and labor for production.
  2. Inputs & Training Provided – YIELDRISE supplies organic fertilizer, improved seeds, and climate-smart farming guidance.
  3. Farmers Cultivate Together – Farmers grow crops with continuous technical support from YIELDRISE.
  4. Harvest & Market Access – YIELDRISE and the farmers find and sell to reliable buyers and organized markets.
  5. Post-Harvest Payment – Farmers repay input costs after sales and keep the remaining profit from increased yields.
